Fun time at Lil' Biggs

This afternoon/evening we got out of the house and headed to a air-conditioned place to play. We invited some friends to come play with us too. So Emma (and her mom, Rachel & dad, Brandon) came and played with Gregory at Lil' Biggs. We played, enjoyed a meal together and played some more. Too bad Tom had to work and missed out.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the day. There are more at here too... http://tomandroxannecook.shutterfly.com

Gregory was pretty impressed with the REALLY big sandbox.

Yippee! I have fans :-)

First of all I want to thank Caren and Jean for the special comments they left on the last post. It is nice to know someone is reading this and a reminder to be careful what I post. hehehe I miss you both too!

So last night while Tom was working, Gregory and I ventured out to Walmart to get sand for his sandbox, so today Tom put the sand in the turtle sandbox. Here are a couple of pictures from Gregory playing in his first sandbox.

Gregory also has his first pair of sunglasses...he loves to wear them in the house, even when he's brushing his teeth :-) The second pic is of Gregory going "Heyyyyyyyy...."

That's all for now!

More activity

Life is getting busier here in Colorado for the Cooks. I have been asked to be on the MOPS Steering Committee in the area of Publicity. I'll be doing a blog for MOPS among other things I am sure. So now we are gearing up for things like a Girls Night Out so we can get to know the others on the Committee as well as our first committee meeting before our first MOPS meeting on Sept 5th.

I also have volunteered to organize/head up a new ministry at our church--Wednesday Night Suppers. So we are having a meeting to see if anyone is interested in helping me on Aug 6th and then we hope to start having the meals on Aug 20th. So you can pray with us that more people will volunteer otherwise I am not sure I can do this all alone every week.

Last week I found some time to do some scrapbooking on Gregory's ABC scrapbook I've been working on for far too long. I look forward to the day when I am done with this. I think I am going to aim for the middle of Sept when we are planning a trip to Missouri.

So what is Tom busier with? He is going to be teaching the Junior High group about once a month on Wed nights and he'll be teaching the Junior High Sunday School class about once a month as well.

And what's Gregory gonna get busier with? PLAYING! We got him a turtle sandbox, now we just need to get him some sand for it. He loves to play outside and dig in the dirt, so hopefully he'll enjoy this too.

We look forward to getting to know more people throughout this time...and don't worry I will not neglect my own blog...if there is anyone out there reading this.

Boring update

Yep, I've resorted to using a boring title :-) There hasn't been much going on here that's worthy of blogging.

This past week we enjoyed having our friend, Jan (who we volunteered with when we were in Germany) at our house for a few nights. We got to help him find lots of bargains and stuff to take back with him to Germany.

But I also missed out on the MOPS park date because we were busy with Jan. So now I am sad that I missed that, but there is one more in August, so hopefully we'll get to enjoy that one.

And so that's really all that has been going on here.

Garden update

So it's been a little over a month since we planted our garden. Today I picked our first radishes. They are beautiful and yummy! Even Gregory enjoyed biting into them :-)

I am pretty sure we aren't going to get any lettuce and I had to replant the carrots, and I doubt those will grow either. We do have at least three tomatoes and about a dozen cherry tomatoes. We also have a couple of pear tomatoes. The squash plants are growing like crazy, but not blossoms yet :-( The pepper plants aren't doing so well and the cucumbers are just putting along. We've cut down some of the cilantro and enjoyed it in rice. The dill is barely growing and I am thinking we got the wrong kind of onions. Now that I think of it I don't think they had a tag on them as to what they were or maybe I didn't read it very closely. Oh well. We'll enjoy what we get.

Happy Belated 4th of July

So for me it's always more fun (or interesting) to post after doing something...so we returned on Sunday from a few days up in South Dakota with the majority of my family. We had a blast hanging out together in our cabin. It was my parents, my grandma, my sister (and her husband and two boys) and my brother (and his wife and two girls) and us (me, Tom & Gregory).

We got to meet Brinley for the first time. She is now 4 months old and such a happy baby.

Gregory got to enjoy his first parade.

Unfortunately we didn't see any live fireworks--it was too crowded and too far to walk, so we enjoyed them on the tv with my grandma who is now 88 years old. I think she enjoyed this too, because Gregory was so goofy watching them and dancing to the music.
